Month 21 of owning our own shop has arrived. This has been the most exhilarating, terrifying, rewarding adventure yet. I knew owning our own business would mean lots and lots of work, but it really is true that you work ALL the time--but we LOVE doing it. This little store is our own creation, and the people who shop with us are part of our little MSJ family--something we are beyond grateful for!
A lot has changed as MSJ has evolved and grown to meet the wants of our clients. In our early days, we were almost exclusively a silver store because that was the medium Rob's family had been creating jewelry in for generations--but wanting more, we have grown to be primarily gold and diamonds, with a special place reserved for some silver as homage to our roots.
Here's a few more things that have changed--we now have not one, but TWO bench jewelers working for us full time. You'll meet them in upcoming blog posts (to keep our blog updated and relevant, we're going to be taking time about writing articles). The first, you've met, Mr. Tom Paxton has over 40 years experience at the bench and a 100 year family legacy--we're so thrilled to announced he joined MSJ full time at the beginning of 2020! In late 2019, Ms. Rebecca Beals joined us with a long and impressive resume of her jewelry training and experience. Between these two, MSJ can create anything you can dream up!
Rob makes jewelry less now, except for the summer months, when, for nostalgia's sake, we'll do a few summer art shows. His real passion (and it turns out he has a heck of a knack for it) it seeking out BIG diamonds at great prices all over the country and bringing them back here to us at MSJ. He also does our long range planning and is the engine who pushes us to keep growing and improving--he is the heart of MSJ.
We had a full time manager join us in summer 2019--Ms. Denise Coffey. Denise and I have known each other since she was a freshmen at the college where I previously worked. She keeps us in line and if you interact with us online, you're either talking to me or Denise.
Our focus is on keeping overhead low, so we can keep our prices low. Come into our cozy little shop and take a look--we focus on having unique and classic new and vintage/antique jewelry. Our growing speciality is custom jewelry--all of which we can produce right here in the shop with our two jewelers, laser welder, casting capabilities, and stone cutting work. Let us take your old and broken jewelry and create something entirely new for you!
We have no-pressure sales, we just enjoy visiting with you and showing off our pieces. Our prices and the quality of our work sell themselves. We love meeting new friends, so come by Monday-Friday 9-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.!
